The
town of Carrickmacross is located in south County Monaghan close to
the Meath and Louth borders. The town, which has been established
since the early 17th Century, is presently experiencing new growth
with high quality developments. This can be attributed to it's strategic
location only 10 minutes from the newly opened M1 motorway which allows
a travelling time to Dublin airport of less than 1 hour.
This new development will add to this already vibrant town, which
already boasts an excellent array of existing shopping facilities
including two shopping centres. Carrickmacross also offers a wide
selection of restaurants to suit every palate, a variety of lively
pubs and three local hotels including the 5 star Nuremore Hotel
which sits on the opposite side of Lough Na Glack.
The town has long been known for its sporting nature and has a
wide variety of sporting amenities available. These include two
18 hole golf courses, local GAA, Soccer and other sporting clubs.
Carrickmacross is twinned with the French town of Carhaix which
is 80km from the Ferry Port of Roscoff. The area is also renowned
for it's association with Patrick Kavanagh and today the arts are
still strongly supported with theatrical and writing groups.
Carrickmacross is an excellent location for first time buyers and
offers a quality family environment for families relocating from
the north Dublin / Drogheda area.
